Michael KachmanMichael "Misha" Kachman was born in St. Petersburg, Russia in 1970. From 1988 through 1996 he went to the Department of Scenography of the renowned State Academy of Theatrical Arts of St. Petersburg to study theater design. He stayed at the Academy as an adjunct professor until he immigrated to the United States in 1999. Kachman has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions around the world. Misha’s career includes, among other things, a 5-year tenure as an exhibition designer at The State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg. Kachman has designed scenery and costumes for more than 30 theatrical productions, and he is collaborating with several professional theatre companies in DC area. He is currently teaching stage design as an Assistant Professor of Dramatic Arts at St. Mary’s College of Maryland. Chevy Chase Art Gallery has been permanently displaying his work since he moved to Washington in 1999.
